At AAFPC, our clinicians are exceptionally well established and seasoned, dedicated to the sensitive personal care of our patients and clients. We are committed to take the time to comprehensively understand each clinical situation. As such, our psychiatrists and therapists may be considered "old school" in that we all provide thoughtful and practical counseling and psychotherapy for our client/patients and or their families along with contemporary medication (psychopharmacological) care as needed.
Evaluation/Assessment: Diagnostic assessments, psychiatric evaluation, psychological testing for children, adolescents, adults and families. Forensic (legal) evaluations limited to children and adolescents. School consultations.
Psychotherapy Services: All Atlanta Area Family Psychiatry Clinic clinicians, (psychiatrists, psychologist and clinical social workers) are fully trained and experienced psychotherapists. Our psychiatrists, Dr's. R. Slayden, Waugh, Ashley, Iwanicki, Kirsch, Nitsche, E. Slayden, Neely, Perez and Coffman are medical doctors with up to 5 years (child and adolescent psychiatrists) training beyond their medical (M.D.) degree. Dr. Gard, our psychologist has a Ph.D. degree and multiple years of additional training. Our Social Worker/therapist, L. Mette, is a LCSW's with a master degree. We all continue to improve our knowledge and clinical expertise by continuing education throughout the year to meet and frequently exceed our licensure and specialty society requirements. AAFPC's clinicians provide a full range of child, adolescent and adult psychotherapy services and techniques including, individual psychotherapy, marital/couples therapy, family therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) techniques are also utilized when appropriate.
Psychopharmacological/Adjunctive Services: Psychopharmacology (medication) evaluation and management. Second opinion medication consultation. Case consultation with your primary physician or other health care provider.
Genetic Testing: We now have the availability to test for the metabolism of many medications with a simple saliva sample. This test provides us with indicators regarding which medications to avoid and in some cases which may be more effective plus a test for a deficiency of the capability to convert certain nutrients to a CNS functional form.

Covid-19 OFFICE Procedures and Policies:
Prescription delivery: We will mail to you or call in or ePrescribe all prescriptions. Allow 1 or 2 additional days to obtain your refills. In the event of an emergency need for a prescription, call your physician on their voicemail and arrange for phoned in, mailed or e-prescribed Rx.
Appointments: All practitioners continue to work with patients by Video/Telemedicine using either the Zoom or Doxy.me platform. While we can still do telephone appointments, we find video to be more effective and very easy to implement even for computer unsophisticated individuals. Rarely a patient may need to be seen in the office but this MUST be arranged in advance with their provider.
New Patients: Our practitioners continue to see new patients, mostly by video/telemedicine. Call the front office to set up an appointment with a provider. The secretary will assist you in selecting a clinician based on your needs and clinician availability.
Payment: Click on your clinician's name on the left of this page to go to their payment portal. You may also call the front office and leave your credit card information with the secretary for payment of services a day in advance of your scheduled appointment.
Thank you
