Todd W. Iwanicki, M.D.

Dr. Todd Iwanicki is a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist who has been with AAFPC since 1999.  A native of Ohio, Dr. Iwanicki received his undergraduate degree from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and earned his medical degree from Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. He is Board Certified in General Psychiatry and is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Dr. Iwanicki completed his residency in general adult psychiatry and a two-year fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Emory University in Atlanta.  During his residency and fellowship, Dr. Iwanicki worked at Wesley Woods Geriatric Hospital, the Dekalb Crisis Center, and Georgia Mountain Community Mental Health Services.  He also served as a consultant psychiatrist at Hillside Hospital, a private residential treatment center serving children, adolescents and their families from across the state.  Prior to joining AAFPC, Dr. Iwanicki was a staff doctor at the Northside Hospital Mental Health Clinic in Sandy Springs.    

Dr. Iwanicki works closely with many Atlanta area public and private schools.  He has enjoyed participating in school-sponsored forums among parents, teachers and administrators to discuss children’s mental health issues.   His special interests include attention deficit hyperactivity disorder; obsessive compulsive disorder; panic disorder; social anxiety disorder;  generalized anxiety disorder; selective mutism; post-traumatic stress disorder; mood disorders, including depression and bipolar disorder; autism spectrum disorders including Asperger’s; substance abuse; couples and family therapy; cognitive behavioral therapy; conflict resolution and insight-oriented psychotherapy.   

Dr. Iwanicki seeks to treat patients holistically, with a conservative approach to medication, combining all treatment modalities to achieve the best response possible.  He works closely with his patients in a collaborative and non-judgmental manner to understand their individual needs in the context of their family environment.  

Dr. Iwanicki is a tennis and golf enthusiast and enjoys the outdoors.  He and his wife are the parents of two young children.
