Therapist Profile:

Will Hart, L.C.S.W., M.Div.

A licensed therapist with the Atlanta Area Family Psychiatry Clinic since 1986, Will holds a B.A. from Wheaton College, a master of Divinity from Columbia Seminary, and a Master of Social Work from the University of Georgia.  He also pursued Ph.D. course work at Emory University in Religion.  During clinical training at the Georgia Mental Health Institute, Will met LeNora M. Ashley, M.D., Lyndon D. Waugh, M.D., and his future wife, Polly P. Hart, LCSW, BCD, all members of the clinic.

Prior to joining the clinic, Will taught Hebrew and Old Testament studies at Columbia Seminary, worked in the Juvenile Justice System, established a child and adolescent mental health program in a seven-county area south of Atlanta, and directed child and adolescent programs for Dekalb County Mental Health.  Will is past president of the Georgia Council on Child Abuse, Inc. (now Prevent Child Abuse Georgia) and is a member of the Society for Clinical Social Work and the Red Cross National Disaster Response Team.  In the latter capacity, Will has provided mental health services at floods, tornadoes, school and office shootings, and the Olympic Park bombing.

Will works collaboratively with other specialties at AAFPC.  He likes variety in his practice, both age-wise and diagnostically.  Family and parent-child issues are a specialty in addition to competency in mood, anxiety, and behavioral disorder treatment.  His style is directive, active and goal-oriented.

In addition to clinical knowledge, Will believes life experience is an important aspect of joining with, understanding and helping others.  Will has lived in Florida, New York, Illinois and Georgia, and has children in California, New York and Maryland.  Will has been a championship sailor, placed fifth in the Masters National Rowing Championships, restored an antique powerboat and built his own house.  He plays the fiddle in his spare time.
